I've read on the forum of Muay Thai being classified as an MMA. Is this true?

No - Muay Thai is very much an element in MMA but is not "A MMA"

MMA is MMA - a modern combat sport involving fighting at standing, clinch & ground ranges. Muay Thai is used by many as the standing striking part and some of the clinching parts.

I think Muay Thai is a TMA because it's not a MMA with grappling in the curriculam and yes Muay Thai would be a good art for stand up fighting in MMA competitions.

MMA is MIXED martial art(s) meaning, it's a MIX of martial arts! Muay Thai is a pure stand up art, but it CAN be a COMPONENT in MMA training.

Also, authentic muay thai in thailand has rituals, bowing and a lot of respect involved. This is often a characteristic of TMAs.
