In the mid 80s I remember watching PKA kickboxing and there was wild acting fighter named Dennis "Mad Dog" Downey. This guy was off the hook in and out of the ring. The last I heard he was arrested for assault and sent to prison. Does anyone know where he is now?

I thought he made a name for himself as a better fighter in the str33ts than in the ring!?

Do I remember?!!!!! What an entertaining fighter he was! Yeah I heard he had his problems with the law for many years. Just recently hear more about him when I came across a fella on facebook that knows him. Sadly there is not much good news...The man is not well. <Contact details removed>

He’s alive and kicking on the streets of Keansburg. He was once a very talented fighter in the ring and out. Regardless of what Joe Lewis said he was talking out his a$$. Mad Dog became the #1 middleweight contender when Jean-Yeves Theriaut was champion. They had talked with Theriaut’s camp on several occasions. But the fight never happened. Mad dog was arrested as has been previously reported. But at the time he was the #1 contender he was managed and trained by three Keansburg Police Officers.

Actually I recently was contacted by a caregiver who takes care of him. Apparently he has suffered brain damage (presumably because of all his fights in and out of the ring) and is currently hospitalized as he suffers increasing dementia. I am currently looking to put together a DVD of as many fights of his as I can find and then send it to his caregiver to present to Dennis. Anybody who has some of Dennis' fights on VHS or DVD kindly contact me.
